Mombasa Beach Holiday Vacation & Safari | Game Fishing Sport Rich & Food for Poor Dec 31

Africa safaris holidays and especially family beach holiday are a once in a life time travel encounter to remember. Often travelers in Africa choose a beach holiday experience after an Africa wildlife safari in the national parks .A beach vacation experience assists you unwind, but what travelers don’t understand is that an Africa beach holidays and vacations do more harm than good to the environment and the locals.

Most African Governments think that tourism in developing countries like Kenya Uganda Zanzibar Island and Tanzania helps the locals and the country as a whole; this however is not always the case. Especially when you consider the fact that huge businesses are often involved in the lucrative tourism industry.

For starters some Africa governments have been selling key beaches to foreigners, at times displacing the communities and at times affecting their livelihoods by making some beaches exclusive, many of these cases have been witnessed in Mombassa, Watamu, Malindi and Zanzibar Island were Italians are known to control almost all beach hotels, resorts and resorts.

In some areas of Africa virtually all the infrastructure is foreign owned from the shopping centers to the restaurants and curio shops. As with anything when profits come before anything else including the environment then it is easy to see how some places that have been created as tourist areas can do more damage to the environment than good.

So while on a African beach vacations or safaris, doing some of the following can make a impact to the lives of the locals and the environment. Always insist on purchasing souvenirs from locals, by doing this you are directly supporting the local community as much of the money you spend in hotels and beach resorts hardly trickle to the locals.

Game fishing especially in Malindi isn’t exactly a game; the consequences of Game Fishing the Indian Ocean largest and finest fish could kick off devastating chain reactions, this game surely isn’t worth the price when you consider that the fish is fun and not for food.

Be gentle with coral – Avoid touching coral while scuba diving or snorkeling because coral is a living thing. Also be careful with your flippers because one careless swipe of sand can easily suffocate a patch of coral. Avoid buying or collecting marine souvenirs – The collection of seashells whether habited or not can be damaging as it deprives another creature that relies on it of a home. The hermit crab for example lives in seashells.

Avoid all-inclusive beach resort and hotels whenever possible – Some all inclusive resorts and hotel villas even though providing travelers with pretty much everything from food, entertainment and including souvenir shops, the sheer scale of such resorts can be a problem for the often delicate marine environment. Some of these all inclusive resorts are even fenced off from the outside world not to mention that they are sometimes situated in private beaches. Smaller is sometimes better- Smaller resorts could be much better for you and also for the environment. If you want the services of a beach travel agency or a tour operator for your African beach safari then look for eco friendly holiday packages and tour operators that mind about the environment and the vacation destinations they serve

Kenya Beach Holiday Vacation Information Dec 28

Kenya Holiday: Beach Holidays in Kenya 2009

Kenya and other locations in East Africa, like Zanzibar Island truly has some of the worlds best beaches. In Kenya, they have mile upon mile of sunny, tropical sandy beaches, clear warm waters and all year round good weather and blue skies, perfect for a beach holiday.

Most of the exotic beaches in Kenya have a reef that protects them, this is not only great for snorkeling and scuba diving, but is superb for swimming, there are also luxury beach hotels in Kenya, ranging from 5 star hotels to private beach villas, to Kenya beach resorts, self catering cottages and apartments. This along with the fact that the cheap package holiday market has really brought down the prices of holidays as well as cheap flights to Kenya makes a Kenya beach holiday the perfect summer and winter sun holiday destination.

Kenyan Beaches, North of Mombasa

Just north of Mombassa is where you find the most popular Kenya beaches resorts and hotels and villas. The beaches include Nyali beach, Bamburi beach, Shanzu beach, Kilifi beach and Kikambala beach. Along this stretch of Kenya coast you find many of Kenya’s best beach hotels and generally the further north you go, the less dense the hotels get an important consideration if you are looking to get away from it all. As with many resort areas, besides the beach related activities, like water sports, fishing and scuba diving, there are also other activities on offer ranging from nature trails to golf.

Kenyan Beaches, South of Mombasa

In general, the coast south of Mombasa is quieter than the northern beaches; this is partly because to get to the southern Kenyan coast from Mombasa, you will take the Likoni Ferry that crosses the Kilindini harbour. The two double ended ferries alternate across the harbour and carry both people on foot and vehicles. This is usually a pretty colourful experience with plenty of noise of the locals going about their daily business.

Popular beaches in the south include Diani, Tiwi and Gazi that go right up to the Pemba area. The accommodation on the southern coast varies from hotels to private beach villas and cottages.

Kenya Beach Holidays

Pinewood Village Beach Resort – Perfect for those looking to get away from it all, Pinewood Village Beach Resort is ideally situated on the quiet and shores of Galu Beach, one of the finest beaches in Kenya, south of Mombasa.

The luxury Pinewood Village Beach Resort is a small relaxed and informal hotel and prides itself on giving it’s guests the personal touch. The holiday price includes: Flights, transfers and accommodation for 7 nights on a Half Board basis including a complimentary upgrade to Full Board.

Flamingo Beach Hotel Kenya

The Flamingo Beach Hotel is located at Shanzu Beach, about 20kms north of Mombasa. The Flamingo Beach Hotel has two swimming pools, tennis courts, massage facilities and internet access. All rooms come with air conditioning and a large terrace or balcony with table and chairs.

The Flamingo Beach Hotel has 138 rooms that are located in six separate four story buildings that surround the huge lagoon shaped swimming pool and palm shaded gardens.

Safari Excursions

Through the hotel, you can arrange to go on one, two, four or even six night safaris at an extra cost. As an example, if you choose the Masai Safari, you will stay out on safari for 2 nights. This safari will take you by air to the Kilimanjaro-Kimana Game Sanctuary, where the snows of Mount Kilimanjaro provide the only water source for miles and the natural springs are home to a wide variety of bird and wildlife.

Day 1: In the morning you fly from Bamburi airstrip to the Kilimanjaro-Kimana Game Sanctuary. After lunch at the camp, you set off on your first game drive. Keep a look out for a wide variety of animals in this well-populated reserve.

Day 2: There is an early morning game drive and, after breakfast, a further game drive gives you the last opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of the ever-changing landscapes of Kimana. After lunch at the camp, you fly back to Bamburi arriving at your hotel in time for dinner.
